Babies need wrapping when they are born and a lot of caring for (my son Matt and his wife have learned that this past month as they care for my new granddaughter). Jesus was no exception, and Mary saw to it at once. She took care of Him.

As we begin a new year, we need to look for opportunities (they are all around us) to share the babe “wrapped in swaddling clothes” with others.

There is something of a call here that says we should be taking care of the Bethlehem baby as Mary did. We should be seeing to it that the Christ is “properly packaged” – wrapped in such a way by us that the rest of the world is able to recognize Him and receive Him as the great gift He is!
